Last Day-Anamabo Beach Resort

So our last day and night was spent at Anamabo Beach Resort. We arrived on New Year's Day and spent the whole day on the beach. We boogi boarded, played in the sand, and ended the day with a yummy dinner on the resort. The next day we awoke, ate, and spent our last couple of hours looking for seashells, relaxing, and enjoying the view.

I love these pictures. Adriana took Spencer to sit in the water. He overcame his fear of the ocean during this trip and loved getting in the water. This is my before the wave hit, and after pictures.

Do you see that grin? Isn't it cute!
Rachel playing with buckets in the water. I think it was water for some castle they were building. Maybe. She may have been cleaning her seashells. Below is Craig looking for seashells for Rachel. He had just returned from boogi boarding.

Just before dinner, we had a traumatic experience. We went back to the room to shower and clean up. While Craig was rounding up Rachel, I took Spencer to get the showers started. I put him in the shower (he only had a diaper on)and realized I forgot the baby soap in the bag. I told him to stay (yeah right, he's 2) and that I'd be right back. Unfortunately, Spencer took the keys from the door and locked himself in the bathroom. The one fault that this place had was that they kept a spare to the rooms at the desk, but put both keys to the bathrooms on the key ring. spencer knows how to turn a key to lock a room, but not to unlock it. Actually, he really has a hard time getting the keys into the lock and it takes a couple of tries to get it to turn. So my point, I don't know how he locked it so fast. We tried coaxing him to put the key back in the lock and unlock it, but it was to no avail. he realized that this wasn't a game anymore and starting bawling. We called the staff over and the only way they could get him out was to take the door apart. It's funny though. They bring a screwdriver and a crowbar, but do you think they would take the door apart properly so that they could put it back together again? NO! They took the crowbar and tore the door apart. They decided that the only way to really open it would be to kick the door in. So they wanted Craig to go to the window to draw spencer away from the door. So all they have to do is pry the window frame off so that they can nail it back down again. do they? No, they took scissors and cut the mosquito screen before Craig could convince them that they don't have to ruin the screen. Once the frame was off, Craig was able to put his arm through the window pane and pull spencer's arm so that he was standing on the top of the toilet. Once he was up there, then craig was able to wrap his arms around his waist so that they could kick in the door. Spencer is terrified of loud noises, so this whole thing was terrifying for him. Overall, it took an hour to get him out and the little tyke was pretty shakin'. We calmed him down, bathed him and then went to dinner. I came 15 minutes late and the little guy was already asleep by the time I got there. He slept all through dinner and the night. Needless to say, if he's left in the room alone and someone shuts the door he starts to freak out. Other than this experience, the stay at Anamabo was great. The staff really are kind and do care. They tore the door down because it was faster and they just wanted to get him out.
Our vacation was a blast and we loved it! The only problem was that it was our one vacation. Maybe we should have planned it towards the end of our stay here, but then we wouldn't have gotten to know Ganisha and Adriana! Hope you enjoyed the pictures!

Whoa, is that a story! It seems like Spencer has done this sort of thing before... locking himself in places. Right? I remember something abotu him locking himself in your bedroom in Bloomington. Hmmmm. Hilarious that they had to break the door down... crazy! Sounds like you guys had a great trip. Maybe you should do it again at the end? Just a thought.

Poor kid! In our old condo where you guys visited last, our 3rd-floor neighbors' son locked his mom out of the condo and she had to scale the outside of the building to get up to her balcony, which was locked. So then she climbed around the outside and got in a window-this all took about a half hour. Those kids are such stinkers! By the way. . . it was fun to see Craig (and you) in the BYU magazine!
