Road to Mole

On the 27th we left early in the morning to go to the Mole National Park. The road to Mole, once you get off the main road, you have to travel 2 and a half hours on a dirt road filled with MASSIVE bumps. It's such a bad road. Anyway, along the way, our driver Daniel wanted to stop to buy some yams from a roadside stand. These were the ladies there and they saw the kids through the van windows. They were so excited and happy to see them that we let the kids out so that the woman could see them up close. It was so cute. Their reaction would be equal to a group of children who have just discovered a box of puppies.

The dirt road to Mole kicks up sooooo much dust from each car that the plants and trees along the road are brown from dust. (this of course is more emphasized during the dry season which is what we are in here right now. I'm not sure how bad it is during the wet season. Probably unserviceable.)
There was so much dust being kicked up that before long you were just breathing dust even inside the van. It was so bad that Ganisha and Adriana had to find some cloth to work as masks!
I love this picture of this village. All along the road there are little villages like this. You probably invision most of Ghana and Africa for that matter to look like this and maybe it is, but not in the cities. Accra is so developed that people live in homes and have jobs. Real jobs like travel agents and bank tellers, etc. Yet you can get just outside the cities and find similar villages. It was only up north that I found villages like these. Where the buildings were circular mud huts. Very cool. This was my favorite picture that I took and one of the only ones that actually turned out!
This is a pump. The water pumps are a very popular place out here because it's so dry that water is very precious!
Even though the road was horrible and made you sick from the constant jostling and bouncing, it was still enjoyable.
