Aburi

So like I said before, we came down the mountain road and stopped in Aburi at the wood carvers village area to buy some masks. These are just some cool shots.

This is a gas station. It's either just like they were a hundred years ago, or just very creative, but isn't it cool!!
rachel instantly makes new friends everywhere she goes. I love that about her. She jumps out of the car and sees children, runs over saying "yea, friends!!!" she walks up to them and says hi my name is Rachel what's yours..............let's play! SHe was teaching them ring-around-the-rosies. They loved the white obruni kid
This lady is wearing a funeral dress. all funeral dresses are black, dark brown, or red or mixed with these 3, but these colors are reserved for funeral wear. The ENTIRE town/village was out for this funeral. Everyone was wearing their clothes and walking around. She was kind enough to let me take her picture.
April showers bring May flowers............well here, in May these trees sprouted bright orange flowers. They are mostly gone now, but they were beautiful. (these weren't in Aburi, I just thought you'd like 'em!)

This cute man let me take his picture of him in his traditionals. He posed and everything.
If you look out to the horizon you can see Accra from Aburi
In Aburi there is a wood carving village where we've bought some masks and things. This is how they carve. they start by hacking at some wood with an axe
then they sand it all down to make it smooth
Finally they stain and polish it. They really work so hard for everything they do!

What amazing photos.

And it looks like Rachel is just like her mother. You were always good about making new friends and talking to everyone. That's a great quality to have. It's always fun to see what your kids will turn out to be like and what things they will get from the parents' personalities! She's such a cutie!
